Hi, what are you looking for?

2015 Draft Prospect Profile: Cornelius Randolph

Cornelius  Randolph is a Georgia high school shortstop who has moved up draft boards because of his bat.  Before this season he was ranked in the top 50 by most publications but has recently moved up.  Currently Fangraphs has him as the 10th best player in the draft, Baseball America has him as the 20th best player and  MLB Pipeline has him at 19th.

Bat:  The bat is what is carrying Randolph up draft boards as he is seen to have a 55 hit an 55 power from the left side.  We all know how the Yankees love their left handed bats.

Glove:  Cornelius will be moved off shortstop immediately because he doesn’t have the quickness.  He is a current 50 runner which will only get worse as he thickens and develops more.  A move to third base will be fine as he has good hands and a plus arm.

My Take: If the Yankees can’t get Whitley or Nikorak with this pick I think Cornelius would be a very good pick.  The bat looks to be very good and having a sweet lefty swing always is good in the Yankees organization.  Overall he looks to be a good first round pick.
