So with James Shields finally figuring out what team to sign with the draft order has been set. The Yankees will have pick number 16th and 30th pick. This will be the second time in two years that the Yankees will have multiple first round picks. This is the first time that the Yankees will pick that high since CJ Henry when they picked him 17th in 2005.
The more important part of the draft for the Yankees is they will have close to $8,210,000 in draft budget. This is all projection right now until MLB sends out the actual budgets. This would be the 6th highest draft budget for any teams. All this sets up the Yankees to add lots of talent into the system. Next post about the draft will look at different draft strategies the Yankees might use.
