Acevedo, Florial named to SiriusXM Futures Game Roster

Pitcher Domingo Acevedo and outfielder Estevan Florial will represent the New York Yankees organization in Miami, Florida for the 2017 SiriusXM Futures Game.

The All-Star Futures game debuted in 1999 and features the best prospects in Minor League Baseball. The teams are divided into World and United States rosters based on place of birth, with every team having a representative. Also, no team is allowed more than two players in the All-Star Sunday event.

Players are selected by the Baseball America magazine, Major League Baseball, MLB.com, and each of the 30 Major League Baseball organizations.

The exhibition will take place on Sunday July 9, 2017 at Marlins Park. It will be televised on MLB Network at 4 p.m. ET.

Acevedo has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success this season, pitching across three levels of the minor leagues. The 23 year-old began the season pitching for the Tampa Yankees (Single-A Advanced), and went 0-4 with a 4.57 ERA over seven starts. He was promoted to Trenton (Double-A), and has pitched much better than he did in Tampa. The 6’7” right-hander is 2-0 with a 1.34 ERA in six starts with the Thunder. Domingo was called up to pitch for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A) for two starts and went 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA.

In 2017, Acevedo has combined to pitch 94 innings across 15 starts. He is 3-5 with a 3.16 ERA. 1.17 WHIP, and opponents are hitting .247 off him. He has struck out an even 100 batters while walking just 21.

The Villa Los Almacigos, Dominican Republic native has a plus-plus fastball, that hits triple digits at times. He also features a changeup and plus slider to complete his repertoire.

Florial is an up and coming star. To learn more about Florial, and to see a scouting report on the Charleston RiverDogs (Single-A) outfielder please click here.
