PULASKI, Va. – Austin Afenir continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 to raise his average to .331 as the Pulaski Yankees (20-14) scored a 7-5 win over the Bristol Pirates (13-18)  before 1,277 fans at Calfee Park Monday night.

The win allowed Pulaski to move into yet another virtual tie for first place in the Appalachian Conference East.

Afenir is hitting .349 (15-for-43) in his last 10 games. Shortstop Jose Javier blasted a two-run homer off Bristol’s Dan Urbina to give the Yankees a 7-3 lead. Right-hander David Palladino picked up the win in his Appalachian League debut, allowing three runs in five innings.

Pulaski welcomes the Kingsport Mets at 7 p.m. Tuesday to open a three-game series.
