Austin Gets 2 Hits, Scores Thrice But Saguaros Falls

New York Yankees prospect Tyler Austin was one of 5 Baby Bombers to play against the Mesa Solar Sox on Wednesday.  He was joined by Dustin Fowler, Gary Sanchez and Tyler Wade in the Surprise starting lineup and later joined by Domingo Acevedo who pitched in relief.

Fowler batted lead-off and in his first at bat of the game he sent a ground ball to left field for a single.  He was later erased after Yadiel Rivera grounded into a force out.  After Jurickson Profar popped out Rivera would steal second base to put him in position to score when catcher Gary Sanchez reached on a throwing error by the third baseman.  Sanchez then stole second base to put himself into scoring position with 2-outs but a fly out to left to end the inning.

Tyler Austin opened up the bottom of the second inning grounding the second pitch he saw into left field for a lead-off single.  He went first-to-third on a single by Nate Orf before Tyler Wade popped out to short.  Charlie Tilson was next at the plate and he hit into a force attempt that saw Austin scoring and Orf moving to second.  With 2-men on Dustin Fowler then grounded into a force out at second base before Yadiel Rivera struck out.

In the bottom of the third Gary Sanchez sent a sharp line drive into left field on the fourth pitch of the at bat for his first triple of the Arizona Fall League season.  He would remain stranded there after a walk, fly out by Tyler Austin and a force out.

Tyler Wade and Dustin Fowler came up in the fourth inning but both would be out on two ground outs.

Hard throwing right-hander Domingo Acevedo came into the game to pitch the fifth inning. After eight pitches he had 2 strike outs, one singing and one called before Austin Dean grounded out on the second pitch of his at bat.

Gary Sanchez struck out swinging to end the bottom of the fifth.  Acevedo came back out for the top of the sixth inning and after getting a fly out on the fourth pitch of the inning.  Renato Nunez then took the first pitch he saw over the left-center field fence for his fourth homerun.  Domingo then allowed a walk and stolen base while Gary Sanchez committed a throwing error to put a runner at third and 1-out.  He then hit Daniel Robertson with the fourth pitch of the at bat to put runners at the corners before being lifted in favor of Andrew Edwards.  Domingo was touched for 1 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 1 hit and a walk while striking out 2.

In the bottom of the sixth Tyler Austin drew a walk with a runner at second base.  He then moved up 90-feet after another walk loaded the bases to bring up Tyler Wade. Wade then lined a double into right field that saw 2 runners cross the plate, including Austin, but a third runner out at home.  Then with 2 outs and Wade at third, Dustin Fowler lined a single to right field to bring home Wade. Fowler then stole his third base of the season.  After Yadiel Rivera walked, Jurickson Profar would clear the bases with a double. Gary Sanchez lined out to right to end the inning.

Tyler Austin, Tyler Wade and Dustin Fowler all flew out in the bottom of the seventh while Gary Sanchez lined out to third in the eighth.  Tyler Austin hit his second homerun of the AFL season when he sent the eighth pitch of the at bat over the left-center field fence.  Tyler Wade grounded out and Dustin Fowler struck out swinging to end the game.
