Austin Homers, Scorpions Lose

In yesterday’s game against the Mesa Solar Sox, Tyler Austin, Scorpion’s left fielder and Yankees prospect, homered on a line drive to center field. The game ended in 3-7 loss for the Scorpions.

Greg Bird played first base and connected for two of his four at bats, one of them a double to right field, in the first inning. Aaron Judge also doubled on a line drive to right field, his only hit of four at bats. Austin’s home run came in the top of the third inning.

Two Prospect pitchers, Kyle Haynes and Caleb Cotham also got in today’s game. Haynes entered the game in the fifth inning. He faced seven batters, taking two strike outs, but giving up two hits and two runs. Cotham went in in the bottom of the eighth. He pitched a clean inning, letting up no hits and earning one strike out.

The Scorpions return to play tomorrow at 12:35 p.m. MST against the Surprise Saguaros. The Scorpions will play as the home team.
