Baby Bombers Hit Big In Scorpion Win

Yankees Prospects hit big, claiming seven of the Scorpions twelve runs against the Glendale Desert Dogs, with Greg Bird, Aaron Judge, and Tyler Austin each hitting a home run.

Bird again played first base, batting 2-4 with two runs and two RBI’s, while Judge was the Scorpions designated hitter, earning two runs and batting 1-4. Austin found himself in right field, connecting for two of his five at bats with two RBI’s.

Kyle Higashioka also earned a run in tonight’s game and played as the Scorpions catcher, while Dante Bichette Jr. was at third base, and batted 0-5, with one RBI.

The prospects got to a great start beginning in the first inning. With their first at bats, Bird and Judge both connected for home runs.

Then, in the third inning, Austin homered on a line drive to center field, also bringing home teammate Brandon Nimmo. Prior to that, Bird was out on a sacrifice fly, bringing home Roman Quinn.

Prospects would score again the fifth inning, starting with a walk for Judge and singles to left field by Bird and Austin. A hit by Dan Gamache would bring Judge and Bird home. Bichette reached on a force attempt, bringing home Austin.

The Scorpions will play again on Monday against the Peoria Javelinas at 12:35 MST.
