Yankees Prospects hit big, claiming seven of the Scorpions twelve runs against the Glendale Desert Dogs, with Greg Bird, Aaron Judge, and Tyler Austin each hitting a home run.
Bird again played first base, batting 2-4 with two runs and two RBI’s, while Judge was the Scorpions designated hitter, earning two runs and batting 1-4. Austin found himself in right field, connecting for two of his five at bats with two RBI’s.
Kyle Higashioka also earned a run in tonight’s game and played as the Scorpions catcher, while Dante Bichette Jr. was at third base, and batted 0-5, with one RBI.
The prospects got to a great start beginning in the first inning. With their first at bats, Bird and Judge both connected for home runs.
Then, in the third inning, Austin homered on a line drive to center field, also bringing home teammate Brandon Nimmo. Prior to that, Bird was out on a sacrifice fly, bringing home Roman Quinn.
Prospects would score again the fifth inning, starting with a walk for Judge and singles to left field by Bird and Austin. A hit by Dan Gamache would bring Judge and Bird home. Bichette reached on a force attempt, bringing home Austin.
The Scorpions will play again on Monday against the Peoria Javelinas at 12:35 MST.
