Hi, what are you looking for?

Back to Back bad Games for GCL Yankees

The Yankees were shut out again by the Tigers as they lost three to zero today.  It again was a very bad game offensively for the Yankees.  The Yankees went 3 hits for 30 plate appearances.  Now they did have four walks but struck out a combined nine times.

Both Mikeson Oliberto and Austin Jones went one for three on the day with a walk.  Oliberto had two strikeouts while Jones only had one.

Defensivelly it was a mix bag for the Yankees.  Austin Aune had an error his third of the season which came on a throw.  Chris Breen had an error on a throw.  While he had that error he did pick a guy off of second base with a snap throw but had a pass ball.  Nathan Mikolas had an outfield assist to round out the defensive plays.

Joseph Maher had a good day today as he went four and two thirds innings today.  He allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks.  He did strike out four batters today to go along with five groundball outs to just two air outs. Overall it was a good day for the 2011 draftee.

Coming in after Maher was Cesar Vargas who pitched two and a third innings giving up two unearned runs on two hits and walks.  Three strike outs and four ground outs rounded out his line.

Tomorrow the team is off and will try to stop the losing streak on Monday.
