Five Tampa Yankees have been chosen to play in the 53rd Florida State League All-Star Game.
Third baseman Dante Bichette Jr., LHP Dan Camarena, third baseman Eric Jagielo, outfielder Jake Cave and infielder Zach Wilson will all represent the Tampa Yankees on the FSL North Team at the June 14,, 2014 event at McKechnie Field the home of the Bradenton Marauders.
Bichette Jr. currently leads all the T-Yanks in runs scored (33), RBIs (35) and third in batting average (.281). HE was also named as the FSL Player of the Week in May.
Cave currently leads the team in batting average with .309 and second in stolen bases with seven.
Camarena currently is (4-3) on the season with 43 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings and a 2.31 ERA.
The players that represented the Tampa Yankees in the 2013 FSL All-Star Game include Catcher Gary Sanchez who currently plays with Double-A Trenton and RHP Shane Greene who made his MLB Debut in April 2014 and is currently in the starting rotation with Triple-A Scranton.
Four of these players were drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2011 MLB Draft while Jagielo was drafted in 2013 showing that the Yankees Farm System is shining with their draft selections. With this thought in mind, the 2014 MLB First Year Draft will be taking place later this week, what positions might the Yanks be looking to fill? We Shall See.
