In a 3-4 loss for the Scottsdale Scorpions, Yankees prospect Dante Bichette Jr. offered a run late in the game. The Scorpions designated hitter connected for one of his two at bats, but it would be enough to contribute in last nights game against the Surprise Saguaros.
Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge were positioned in the Scorpions outfield, with Austin in left field and Judge playing right. The two prospects struggled to connect, as Austin batted 0-4 while Judge connected for a hit in one of his three at bats.
Prospect pitchers Kyle Haynes and Caleb Cotham pitched an inning each in yesterday’s game. Haynes entered the game in the bottom of the seventh, followed by Cotham in the eighth. The players pitched similar inning, each letting up just one hit.
Bichette would earn his run in the top of the seventh inning after he singled on a ground ball to right field. A hit by the next batter would advance him to third, only to then make it home after a ground ball by teammate Elias Diaz.
The Scorpions return to play tomorrow against the Mesa Solar Sox. The Scorpions will play as the home team at 12:35 MST.
