After two tough losses, Yankees Prospect, Kyle Haynes, aided the Scottsdale Scorpions to their second win after pitching a clean inning against the Glendale Desert Dogs.
Greg Bird, who has been a consistent contributor to the Scorpions, held his position as first baseman. He connected for one of his three at bats and was fourth in the lineup.
Dante Bichette Jr. was the Scorpions designated hitter, batting 1-4. Yankees prospect, Alex Smith, pitched the 8th inning, letting up four hits and three runs.
In the bottom of the 8th Bird connected for a single to center field, bringing home teammate, Aaron Judge.
Up by only one, Haynes entered the game in the ninth inning, holding off the Desert Dogs. He assisted to a quick inning, keeping the opposing team off base, and earning a strike out. The final score was 6-5, Scorpions.
The Scorpions return to play today at 12:35 p.m. MST against the Surprise Saguaros. Scorpions will play as the away team.
