After guiding the Trenton Thunder to the second best record in franchise history (87-55) and a trip to the Eastern League Championship in 2016, sources confirmed to Pinstriped Prospects on Monday afternoon that Bobby Mitchell will be back at the helm for a second season in 2017.
All of Mitchell’s staff is slated to return with him except for hitting coach PJ Pilittere, who is excepted to assume that role for Triple-A Scranton.
The organization is said to have been pleased with the job that Mitchell did last season and will trust him to mold top-prospects such as Gleyber Torres, Justus Sheffield, Jorge Mateo, Domingo Acevedo and James Kaprielian at some point this spring.
