Burlington Hands Pulaski Tough 1-0 Setback

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Designated hitter Melbrys Villoria’s fourth-inning sacrifice fly scored first baseman Brandon Dulin with the only run of the game as the Burlington Royals (20-22) edged the Pulaski Yankees (24-19), 1-0, in Appalachian League play before 515 fans at Burlington Athletic Stadium Thursday night.

The setback overshadowed a solid pitching effort by Pulaski righty Jhon Morban, who allowed the single run in four hits, struck out five and did not issue a walk. Righty Eduardo Rivera threw two innings of scoreless relief.

Pulaski’s road trip continues in Danville, Va., where the Yankees will meet the Danville Braves at 7 p.m. Friday.
