Catcher Numata Inks Deal With Tigers

Catcher Chace Numata, who spent 39 games with the Thunder this past season, has inked a minor league deal with the Detroit Tigers.

The 26-year old backstop slashed .180/.222/.242 over 128 at-bats with eight RBI for Trenton before seeing some late season action with High-A Tampa. Numata spent the first eight seasons of his career in the Phillies organization after being selected as their 14th-round draft selection back in 2010. In 498 career games, Numata has slashed .252/.319/.333 with 13 homers and 186 RBI.
