Tampa’s Jake Cave continues to show his power offensively as he went 3 for 5 on Monday night in the T-Yanks 8-3 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays.
The Jays (22-8) who are currently leading the FSL North Division, took a 4-0 lead over Tampa through 5 innings as starter LHP Conner Kendrick (ERA 9.82) struggled. Kendrick pitched 3 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 4 runs.
The Yanks finally got on the board in the top of the 6th with a 2 run homer by Angelo Gumbs; his first homerun of the season. RHP Eric Ruth (ERA 4.44) would then pitch the next 4 innings allowing 8 hits and another 4 runs by the Jays. A solo homerun by Zach Wilson would help tack on another run for Tampa, but just wouldn’t be enough.
The Tampa Yankees will take on the Dunedin Blue Jays in the third and final game of the series on Tuesday at 11:00am with RHP Brett Gerritse (ERA 5.48, 2-1) taking the mound for the Yanks.
