Clarkin Dominate in Riverdog Victory

Key Story:

Ian Clarkin made his 2014 debut and dominated.  He went five innings and only needed sixty one pitches to get thru those innings.  Clarking struck out five batters while only giving up four hits and no walks.  He picked up a base runner at first base to go to go along with four ground ball to three fly ball outs.  Great start of the year for Clarkin.  Hopefully he dominates and earns a promotion to Tampa for the last month of the season.

Captain Clutch of the Game:

Mike Ford went three for four today.  He didn’t have any extra base hits but did score two runs and drove in a run.  He’s more of a organizational player but his line of .305/.383/.439 is good right now.

Golden Sombrero of the Game:

Omar Luis also made his like Clarkin and it wasn’t very good.   He went two and two thirds inning and only struck out one batter.  He allowed five runs on six hits and two walks.  Now in Luis defense only three of the runs were earned.  This wasn’t what the Yankees thought they were getting with their last big international signing before the new rules came into effect a couple seasons ago.

Up Next:

Smith takes the mound tomorrow to finish the series agains Delmarva at 5:00 eastern.
