Coach’s Insight: BYU pitching coach talks RHP Jarod Lessar

Today, we continue our Coach’s Insight series by taking a look at BYU right-handed pitcher Jarod Lessar. The Yankees signed him as a non-drafted free agent. You can check out our interview with him, but we wanted to give you some insight on him from one of his coaches.

We talked with BYU pitching coach Michael Bradshaw to get the insight on Lessar about his curveball, the movement on all of his pitching, and how Lessar performed all roles when asked to with the Cougars. Trust me, you will learn a lot more about pitching in this interview:

Ricky:  When you first met Jarod after he transferred and got to watch him pitch, what stood out to you about him?

Coach Bradshaw: Well, Jared, first thing is, he’s a guy that really hasn’t had in the words from him, pitching coaches in his life. First thing I noticed was he’s a tall, big athletic body that really has a great arm. What was interesting about Jarod is even at his junior college, he didn’t have the best numbers that he’s probably capable of. He’s always been kind of raw, but his stuff is very good.
