Cosme Returns to Yankees to Lead DSL Team

This year the Dominican Summer League Yankees will have a new manager, Caonabo Cosme will be taking over the helm from Travis Chapman.

Cosme is returning to the Yankees after starting his coaching career in the Dominican Summer League in 2011 as a hitting coach.  He spent three seasons as the hitting coach for the DSL Yankees 2 before being promoted to hitting coach of the GCL Yankees 1 in 2014, a position he held for two seasons.

Gabriel Tatis, Edwin Beard, and Rainiero Coa are all returning to the DSL Yankees in 2018.  Tatis will be the pitching coach, Beard the hitting coach, Coa serving as the defensive coach.

Tatis is entering his fifth season as a pitching coach for the Yankees in the Dominican Summer League.  Before coaching, he spent seven seasons in the Yankees minor leagues reaching as high as Single-A Charleston.

Edwin Beard has served as a hitting coach in the Dominican Summer League for the Yankees since 2014.  Before becoming a coach, he played three seasons in the Yankees organization hitting .270 with a .372 OBP in 110 games for the DSL Yankees 1.

This will be Rainiero Coa’s third season as a coach in the Yankees organization.  He played six seasons in the organization before becoming a coach.
