David Aardsma continued his rehab and dominated in his two innings of work. He had three strikeouts in those two innings to go along with no walks and the two hits allowed.
The best pitching of the day came from Jordan Cote. On the pitching side of this team he has the highest ceiling. Cote is a 2011 draft pick who went in the third round and got $725,000 which is almost half a million over slot. Cote went 4.2 innings and struck out six batters to the one walk on the day. He did allow three hits that led to one run but that happens.
The hitting wasn’t great on the day and that mostly had to do with the Phillies pitching. The Phillies struck out nine Yankees and most of those came off two players. Justin Jones had three at bats today and struck out three batters. David Remedios had four at bats and had three strikeouts.
Mikeson Oliberto and Jorge Alcantara were the stars offensively in this game. Jorge only had one hit but it brought in two guys for two RBI’s. One great thing for the twenty year old was the two walks which increased his season total to four to go along with five strike outs which is a very good ratio. Oliberto went three for three with a double.
The bad:
Miguel Andujar had another zero hit day in four at bats with a strikeout.
The Good:
Jerison Lopez went one for three today with a walk which actually brought his season average down on to .421.
