Culver Clubs Two Homers, RailRiders Overwhelm ‘Pigs

Sanchez Singles, Catches Seven Innings

Allentown, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) crushed the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) on Wednesday night, 13-0. The RailRiders (13-11) bashed three homers, two by Cito Culver, and claimed their fifth win in seven games. The IronPigs (13-12) suffered a franchise-record-tying setback for margin of defeat.

Daniel Camarena (3-0) tossed six scoreless innings of three-hit ball for the win, lowering his ERA to 0.98. Tyler Webb and Tyler Jones took the baton from there, whiffing a combined four against no walks.

Run-scoring extra-base hits fueled the RailRiders’ offensive. Clint Frazier sparked a four-run second with a leadoff homer, his fourth of the year. Later in the frame, Billy Fleming cracked a two-run double to right-center.

Culver clubbed a two-run homer in a three-run third and a solo shot in the seventh. A five-run eighth saw run-scoring hits from five different RailRiders.

Spot starter Cesar Ramos (1-1) took the loss for the IronPigs.

MLB rehabber Gary Sanchez caught seven innings for a second straight night. He went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.

The three-game set concludes at 10:35 a.m. on Thursday morning. In a battle of right-handers, SWB’s Brady Lail (1-1, 6.04) will face Ben Lively (3-1, 2.25). SWB returns home on Friday, May 5 to host Syracuse at 6:35 p.m. The Glow-in-the-Park Friday will also sport celebrations for Cinco de Mayo.
