After a rainy Tuesday night, the Tampa Yankees hosted a double header against the Dunedin Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
In the first game of the double header Rookie Davis (ERA 3.22) took the start and led the T-Yanks to a 5-1 victory in the first seven inning contest.
The Yanks took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third. The first run was scored off a RBI double by Dustin Fowler to send Abiatal Avelino home. A two run single by Dante Bichette then sent home Fowler and Tyler Wade.
In the top of the 4th, Dunedin put a run on the board with a RBI single by Dawel Lugo.
But, in the bottom of the 5th, a two run single by by Dustin Fowler allowed both Brandon Thomas and Abiatal Avelino home to add to the Tampa Yankees’ lead.
Davis pitched six innings allowing three hits and one run, striking out eight batters, advancing him to (5-4) on the season.
RHP Alex Smith pitched a one hit seventh inning to secure the victory. Stay tuned for the results of the second game of teh double header.
