Tremmell is a very good athlete as he was a good round back for a good Georgia high school. If your playing a premier position like that in the south you are a great athlete. He could go and play football at the next level but has chosen to focus on baseball. He’s hit well this year but as with most high school stats they can be very misleading.
Tools:
Hit tool: 45 grade according to MLB pipeline. The hope is he would be able to improve this as he would spend all of his time playing baseball.
Power: 50 grade. Again this would hopefully get better as he gains experience.
Arm: 45 grade. This would hopefully also improve also with some better coaching.
Run: 70 grade. No need to improve this as he is a great athlete.
Fielding: 60 grade. As an outfield who can run he should be able to cover a lot of ground.
Overall: 50 grade. He is a good prospect with some upside. I could see the Yankees going after him with their 2nd pick but not their first.
Rankings: Law BA: 13th, MLB: 32nd.
My take: I wouldn’t like the Yankees to go after him with their first pick. If he is there with their 2nd pick I think the upside would be too hard to pass up. Your hoping some of his flaws get worked out with coaching. The Yankees have had issues turning toolsy outfielders into top talent. Why Mason Williams and Slade Heathcott made the majors they never lived up to some of the hype that they got. I would prefer to roll the dice with a 2nd round pick instead of a first round pick.
