Duran’s Ninth-Inning Homer Boosts Pulaski

BRISTOL Va. – First baseman Matthew Duran clubbed a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to break open a tight game and propel the Pulaski Yankees (40-22) to a 4-0 win over the Bristol Pirates (27-31) Wednesday night,

Righty Drew Finley, righty Jonathan Padilla, who evened his record at 1-1, and righty Cody Carroll, who earned his second save, each pitched three scoreless innings before 292 fans at DeVault Memorial Stadium.

The Yankees, who have a seven-game lead over the Princeton Rays in the Appalachian League East, play the Pirates at 7 Thursday night in the second of four games before finishing the regular season with three at Johnson City vs. the Cardinals. They are on verge of clinching the division title.
