TRENTON, NJ – Billy Fleming’s solo home run was the only run support needed for the Thunder pitching staff in a 1-0 victory over the Erie Seawolves Sunday afternoon at ARM & HAMMER Park.
Fleming rode out his first Double-A home run off Josh Turley in the bottom of the first, and Dietrich Enns, J.R. Graham and Giovanny Gallegos combined on the seventh shutout of the season for the team.
Enns struck out five straight batters at one point across the second and third innings on his way to eight in the game. Enns left the game after 4.1 innings due to a high pitch count and J.R. Graham entered in his place. Graham went the next 2.2 allowing just one hit and striking out three. Dietrich recorded each of his first seven outs in the game by way of the K.
Giovanny Gallegos threw the final two innings for the Thunder to earn his second save of the season.
The Thunder earned a victory in the season series with the Seawolves by taking their seventh matchup of the season (7-2). The teams will meet for four games in three days at Jerry Uht Park next weekend.
Michael O’Neill went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his Double-A debut. O’Neill, who was added to the Thunder roster earlier in the day, is the nephew of former Yankees outfielder, Paul O’Neill.
Your Thunder will have an off day Monday before a three-game series at Binghamton. RHP Ronald Herrera will go for the Thunder in the opener of the series, RHP Casey Delgado will go for the B-Mets. Listen live to Thunder baseball on 91.3 FM WTSR and online at Trentonthunder.com beginning at 6:20pm.
