The San Francisco Giants have signed former New York Yankees prospect Ali Castillo to a minor league deal according to Baseball America’s minor league free agent tracker. The 26-year old infielder provides the Giants with some middle-infield depth in their upper levels.
Originally signed by the Yankees as an international free agent in October of 2007, Castillo has spent his entire professional career in the organization. This past season he spent the majority of the year with the Double-A Trenton Thunder where in 68 games he hit .269 with 5 doubles and 2 home runs. Ali also had 20 games in Triple-A where he hit .367 with 8 doubles for the RailRiders. Castillo played all over the infield and even some outfield with the Yankees organization, making him one of the most versatile players they had.
