From The Back Fields To The Bronx Ep 2: Somerset/Tampa Updates
/

On this week’s episode of From The Back Fields To The Bronx, Ricky Keeler is joined by assistant editor and Somerset Patriots beat writer Matt Kardos and our new Tampa Tarpons beat writer, John Brophy to talk about what has gone on in the New York Yankees organization.

The show started with a look at Somerset as Matt gives his insight on Estevan Florial‘s start to the season, Thomas Milone standing out in the lineup, what to make of Luis Gil‘s first two starts, and the consistency of Somerset’s rotation so far.

Then, the show shifts to Tampa discussion with John talking about Trevor Hauver and the depth of the Tarpons lineup, if there is any concerns with the pitching to start the year, and if there has been any difference in Tampa now that they are Low-A ball instead of High-A ball.

After updates on Scranton Wilkes-Barre with their injuries to the lineup and Deivi Garcia‘s good start this week, they looked at Hudson Valley’s pitching staff with the high strikeout numbers, Luis Medina being the best pitcher in the organization so far, and Oswald Peraza heating up at the plate.

Finally, a new segment appears on the show as the trio discusses general minor league questions. This week, the conversation was about how quick is too quick to promote a player and whether or not fans should be rooting for ex-Yankees prospects that succeed with other teams and whether or not that means the Yankees failed or succeeded with their development.
