GCL Yankees East Prove Themselves As Pitching Powerhouse

The Yankees’ GCL East division team is looking strong to start the 2017 Gulf Coast League season. The young squad closed the deal on another shutout win today over the Tigers, making them 3-0 to start the season. Two of these three wins have come in the form of a shutout, the first being on Opening Day when they beat out the Braves 2-0 while being led by the dominant pitching of Railriders LHP Dietrich Enns. From here, the tempo seemed to be set for this ball club.

Over the last three contests, The Yanks have outscored their opponents 12-3 while only allowing 13 hits total. Pitchers such as Enns and Tony Hernandez have shown their excellent capability to continue to find the strike zone and leave opposing batters with nothing more than a hit here and there. The combined ERA for this rotation the last three games in merely 1.00, and the backfield has played seamless defense as well to accompany their pitching staff.

Though it’s only the first three games, this team is off to a tremendous start. If these prospects keep playing like this, they will more than likely see themselves getting promoted in the near future. Hopefully, for the Yankees, this great play from their young players continues to resonate.
