Hebert and T-Yanks shutout Threshers

The Tampa Yankees had a solid win on Thursday night against the division rival Clearwater Threshers and Friday night was no different as LHP Chaz Hebert (ERA 4.34) pitched a complete game and shutout the Threshers 1-0.

The Threshers sent Yacksel Rios (ERA 3.08) to the mound for the start as he pitched five innings, allowing two hits and one run, striking out three batters.

The Tampa Yankees were able to get on the board in the bottom of the third when Michael
O’Neill hit his third of a double on a line drive to right field. He later stole third base while Derek Toadvine was at-bat. A RBI Abiatal Avelino then scored O’Neill and put the Tampa Yankees up 1-0 and score the only run of the game.

Hebert’s nine innings of work allowed just five hits, one walk and struck out four on just 97 pitches. He is now (4-4) on the season.

Rios was charged with the loss and falls to (1-2).

The T-Yanks had just four hits on the night:

Kyle Higashioka: 1 for 3
Michael O’Neill: 2 for 3;DBL; R
Ericson Leonora: 1 for 3; DBL
