Prospect Kyle Higashioka shined in today’s game against the Surprise Saguaros. The game entered a tenth inning resulting in a win for the Scorpions, where Higashioka contributed two runs, and two RBI’s.
Greg Bird also scored a run, batting fourth in the lineup and finding himself at first base. Dante Bichette Jr. held his position at third base and made contact for one of his four at bats, while Tyler Austin was the Scorpions designated hitter, batting 0-4.
Prospect pitcher, Caleb Cotham, pitched one inning, entering the game in the bottom of the fourth. He contributed two strikeouts, but gave up two hits and a run.
In the top of the second, Higashioka sent a line drive to center field, earning his first home run of the fall season, and also bringing home teammate Matt Reynolds.
Higashioka earned another run in the top of the fifth off of a hit by teammate Brandon Nimmo. The Yankees prospect connected for three of his five at bats.
With a tied game, the two teams entered into a tenth inning, where Bird earned his run after a home run from Reynolds.
The Scorpions will play next, Monday, October 13th against the Mesa Solar Sox at 6:35 p.m. MST.
