High School Sluggers To Compete In Jimmy V Home Run Derby

Your Thunder and the Philadelphia Friends of the Jimmy V Foundation are proud to annouce the Second Annual Jimmy V Penn-Jersey Home Run Derby to be held following the Thunder vs. New Hampshire game on Sunday, June 28 at ARM & HAMMER Park. Participants will be announced ahead of the event.

The event will feature some of the best high school sluggers from New Jersey taking on top hitters from Pennsylvania in a home run derby style competition. Points will be awarded for home runs as well as wall balls and outfield hits that reach the wall. Scholarships and bragging rights are up for grabs in this team and individual competition.

The Jimmy V Penn-Jersey Home Run Derby is part two of a fun-filled baseball doubleheader. The Thunder vs. New Hampshire game at 1:00pm will feature a giveaway of Mini Soft Toss Baseball’s to the first 1,000 fans, age 5-15. After the game Thunder game, before the Home Run Derby, Kids Run the Bases presented by TD Bank. A ticket to the Thunder game is required for entry to the Derby. TICKETS

Area coaches nominated players for consideration by a board of local baseball officials who then selected the top power hitters to participate. The Philly Friends of V selection board included many of the top names in youth baseball such as Jeff Manto, Dave Gallagher, Dave Amari, Jim Peto and Mike Gossner.
