Since the hurricane came we don’t have a game but let’s look at some stats from the first week.
The good:
Jerison Lopez has started off red out. He has a line of .421/.522/.579. Really impressive so far is he has walked three times to two strike outs.
Austin Jones also has gotten off to a very good start to the season. His season line so far is .316/.381/.474. Three of his hits have gone for doubles so far. No homeruns yet but hopefully those will come. So far he has a good walk to strikeout rate which was two walks to three strike outs.
On the pitching side Jordan Cote has been great in two appearances. In those two games he has gone nine innings and has struck out eleven batters so far. He has done a good job of limiting walks. He has only walked two guys so far making his strikeout to walk ratio 5.5. A good ERA of 1.00 rounds off his stats.
Angel Rincon also had a good start to his year. He went five innings of work struck out three batters while not walking anyone. He did give up one hit and did hit a batter.
The bad:
Hayden Sharp gave up three runs in 3.2 innings of work and walked four to three strikeouts so far.
Greg Bird has given up three stolen bases when he has caught. The bat hasn’t been there either with a .200/.200/.368 line. Not a great week for a guy who got $1.1 million. Good thing it’s only one week.
Miguel Andujar went three for four in his first game. Since then he has gotten one hit with that hit being an extra base hit. But he has struck out 5 times already which isn’t surprising because he is 17 and most guys are 2 years older than him.
Since Rookie Davis was supposed to go today he will be on the bump tomorrow as long as the field drains.
