CHARLESTON, SC – Gosuke Katoh was the hero for the Charleston RiverDogs Tuesday night, as his walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth sealed the RiverDogs’ 5-4 comeback victory over the Augusta GreenJackets at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Charleston scrapped together three runs on two timely RBI singles by Jose Javier and Jorge Mateo. The R’Dogs also drew five walks, sent nine men to the plate, and led 4-2 at the end of the inning, which brought the crowd of 2,850 to its feet. .
In the top of the eighth, Skyler Ewing drove in pinch-runner Jared Deacon to make it 4-3 Charleston. Ewing was left stranded on second base as the RiverDogs retired the side on two ground balls.
Augusta rallied in the top of the ninth, drawing four consecutive walks to tie the game at 4. Joe Harvey came out of the bullpen and was able to get the RiverDogs out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam. The second baseman Katoh made a shoestring catch on a pop fly to shallow center field. Then, righty Joe Harvey got John Riley to bounce out to Katoh to end the threat.
The GreenJackets scored their first two runs on an RBI single by Aramis Garcia in the first inning and a sacrifice fly to deep center field by Jonah Arenado in the fourth. Charleston cut Augusta’s lead in half in the sixth on an RBI single by Dustin Fowler. The single plated Mateo, who stole second base earlier in the inning.
