Kingsport Wins Series Opener with Pulaski

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Kingsport Mets (13-13) got the key hits and scored a 502 win over the Pulaski Yankees (16-12) Tuesday night in the opening of a three-game Appalachian League series before 787 fans at Hunter Wright Stadium.

The loss dropped Tony Franklin’s team into second place in the Appalachian League East, a game behind the Princeton Rays.

Pulaski catcher Austin Afenir continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 to raise his average to .309. Righty David Sosobee suffered his first loss of the season in relief after righty Adonis Rosa (4-0), who threw five solid innings, allowing just two run and four hits.

The Yankees hope to jump back on the winning track in the middle game of the series at 7 Wednesday evening at Huntet Wright Stadium.
