The GCL Yankees finished off their season today with a win. They beat the Pirate by the score of five to two. As a team they had 9 hits in 34 at bats while only walking three times compared to eight strikeouts
Miguel Andujar finished his season with a strong final game. He went two for five but hit his first professional homerun. He struck out twice but overall he held his own as one of the youngest players in the complex league as he was a true 17 year old for the whole season.
Mikeson Oliberto went two for four with a double and RBI. He came on strong at the end of the year. Over the last ten games he only had one game that he went hitless. During those ten games he hit .333/.378/.571 for a .949 OPS.
Jorge Alcantara finished his final game by going three for three. It was a good game to finish your season.
Giovanny Gallegos got the start and went two innings. He punched out two guys while only allowing a hit. Gallegos got one groundball and one flyball out.
Rookie Davis went two and a third innings. He was hit around a bit as he allowed four hits that led to two runs neither were earned. While he walked one Davis did strike out two batters.
Caleb Frare had a great final game. He allowed one hit but that was all. Frare struck out four batters while getting two groundball to one flyball outs in his two and two thirds innings.
We should know soon if the Yankees made the post season as the standings don’t appear to be updated.
