It took a late inning meltdown today to sink the Yankees as they were up three runs to two before the 8th inning started. As a team the Yankees had 8 hits in 34 at bats today. They had four walks with three of those walks coming from Nathan Mikolas. Out of their 27 outs they had 7 via the strikeout.
Miguel Andujar had the best day at the plate as he went two for four with one of his hits being a double. That was good but he was trying to stretch his double into a triple and was gunned down.
Chris Breen went one for four today with a double but defensively he was a mess. He allowed four guys to steal on him today without throwing a single guy out.
Pitching wise Hayden Sharp got the ball to begin the game and was only ok. He went two and a third innings today and gave up the two’s. Two hits, earned runs, walks and strikeouts.
Giovanny Gallegos had the best day as he went two innings and struck out four batters while only giving up one run.
Melvin Mercedes blew the save as in his inning and a third he gave up four hits and three walks. Those hits and walks led to a six spot being put up.
Tomorrow the Yankees will go to the Blue Jays complex and play at noon eastern
