One week from today is the First-Year-Player Draft. Lives will change forever as this year’s draft class’ top prospects will hear their names called and start the process of signing with the team that selects them.
With that, it is time we take a look at the latest mock drafts and see who the experts think the Yankees will choose with their first pick of the draft.
First up is the latest mock draft from Perfect Game who has the Yankees picking Valdosta High School’s D.L. Hall with the 16th overall draft pick. Hall is considered one of the top prep pitchers in the draft. Our profile on the left-handed pitcher went out earlier today, and we highlighted that he has not one but two plus-pitches. The 18-year-old features a fastball that has been up to the mid-90s, a mid-70s curveball, and a change-up.
Over at MLB.com, they are sticking to their guns and still have the Yankees selecting outfielder Austin Beck out of North Davidson High School. Beck is considered one of the top prospects in the draft, but they feel he could fall to the Bombers due to a lack of a significant track record like other high school prospects.
