Following a 3-0 shutout defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon, the New York Yankees announced a slew of roster moves.
Left-handed reliever Jacob Lindgren was optioned to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre and was reassigned to minor league camp. The news comes as somewhat of a surprise after many had the 23-year old Mississippi State product pegged as the teams featured southpaw out of Joe Girardi‘s big league bullpen.
Top-prospects Aaron Judge, Jorge Mateo and James Kaprelian were among the notable names that were also reassigned to minor league camp. Brady Lail, Tyler Wade, Dustin Fowler, Tyler Webb, Domingo German, Chad Green, Kyle Haynes, Kyle Higashioka, Francisco Diaz, Sebastian Valle, Santiago Nessy, Lane Adams and Deibinson Romero were also sent to minor league camp.
With Opening Day nearly three weeks away, the big league roster will begin to shake out and minor league rosters will sort themselves out. After this first wave of moves, there is certainly going to be more players who are released, optioned, reassigned or traded in the coming weeks.
