The Tampa Yankees traveled to Space Coast Stadium to star a series with the Brevard County Manatees as LHP Conner Kendrick (ERA 3.64) took the start for the Yanks but, the offense just didn’t have enough to catch up with the Manatees in the 5-2 loss.
Brevard County got off to an early 3-0 lead in the first two innings and would end up taking a 4-0 lead before the T-Yanks scored. Tampa finally got on the board in the top of the 5th with a RBI single by Jose Toussen to send Dante Bichette home.
Kendrick worked 4 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 runs striking out just 1 batter. RHP Christ Smith (ERA 6.00) took the next 2 innings, allowing just 1 hit and struck out 2. RHP Nick Rumbelow (ERA 3.77) pitched the final two innings of no hit ball; striking out 2.
Tampa’s second and final run of the season was scored by Matt Snyder after Wes Wilson grounded out.
Kendrick was charged with the loss (2-3) as the T-Yanks fall to (30-33). The next game against the Brevard County Manatees will take place on Monday night at 6:35pm.
