Montgomery, Wade, Payton Pace Thunder

TRENTON, NJ – Tyler Wade, Dustin Fowler and Mark Payton each recorded a three-hit game and Jordan Montgomery threw 5.1 innings of scoreless baseball to lead the Thunder to a 5-2 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels in front of 5,202 fans at ARM & HAMMER Park on Saturday night.

The Thunder grabbed the game’s first run on Fowler’s RBI single in the third inning. Fowler drove in Tyler Wade, who tripled with two out, for the first of his two RBI’s on the night. In the fifth inning, the team added to their lead with a run-scoring single from Fowler, a sac fly from Miguel Andujar and an RBI single from Kyle Higashioka for a 4-0 lead.

Jordan Montgomery kept the Flying Squirrels off the board in his 5.1 innings, Saturday night. He allowed four hits, two walks and struck out three as he earned his seventh win of the season.

Richmond grabbed both of their runs off J.R. Graham in the top of the seventh inning when Brandon Bednar drove in a pair with a double down the first base line.

Jonathan Holder earned his seventh save of the season by recording the final five outs of the night. Holder is now riding an 11.2 inning scoreless streak.

Your Thunder complete their homestand on Sunday night at 7pm against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. RHP Vicente Campos will start for the Thunder, RHP Dan Slania will go for Richmond.
