On Saturday, the New York Yankees made several player moves throughout the farm system.

At the Double-A level, the Trenton Thunder announced that outfielder Trey Amburgey was activated off the disabled list.   Amburgey was placed on the disabled list on April 28 with concussion-like symptoms.

To make room for Amburgey on the Trenton roster, Cesar Diaz was reassigned to extended spring training.  Diaz has logged a lot of miles this season, appearing in 12 games for the Tampa Tarpons, Trenton Thunder, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

In the Florida State League, Nick Nelson was officially promoted from the Charleston RiverDogs and will make the start on Saturday night for Tampa.  The former fourth-round draft pick was 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA over five starts for the RiverDogs and struck out 35 batters in 24 2/3 innings.

In order for the Tarpons to fit Nelson on the roster, they announced that relief pitcher Chase Hodson was re-assigned to extended spring training.  Hodson, 25, had struck out eight batters in 6 2/3 innings over five games out of the bullpen, allowing just one run on three hits and five walks.

Taking Nelson’s spot in Charleston will be right-handed pitcher Alexander Vargas, who will make the start for the RiverDogs on Sunday.  Vargas has made one spot-start this season for the Trenton Thunder, striking out four in 4 1/3 innings in his Double-A debut.  He allowed just two hits and two walks.  He also had a one-inning appearance for the Tampa Tarpons earlier this season.
