New Podcast: 70: ALDS Preview with Sox Prospects

On this special episode of the Pinstriped Prospects Podcast brought to you by Velocity Wings in Sterling, Virginia, we decided to look at the ALDS matchup between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox that begins Friday night (7:32 p.m ET, TBS) from a different angle.

For this unique ALDS matchup with two bitter rivals, our special guest was the Executive Editor of Sox Prospects, Chris Hatfield. Sox Prospects is the number one source for anyone to go to for all information on the Red Sox farm system.

After taking an initial look at the matchup, Chris and I discussed how J.D. Martinez has helped the Red Sox lineup, the impact Alex Cora and his new coaching staff have had in year 1 in Boston, the possible options in the bullpen behind Craig Kimbrel, and much more.

In addition to those topics, both of us gave our X-Factors and players under the most pressure in this series, made some predictions, and talked a little bit about Luke Voit‘s surprising second half with the Yankees.

Of course, with two minor league sites doing a podcast together, the conversation shifted into getting an overview of the Red Sox farm system. Some of the topics discussed included Chris’s thoughts on Michael Chavis and this year’s First-Round pick Triston Casas, affiliates that stood out to him in 2018, and some thoughts on what has gone on in Fort Myers down in the Instructional League. To find more information on that, check out the latest episode of their podcast.

Our thanks to Chris and Sox Prospects for taking the time to conduct this interview with us right before this series between two 100+ win organizations in the regular season gets underway.
