One day, a Win and Lost

Because of the rainout yesterday the Yankees played two games today against the Braves.   They won one and lost one.

Game One:

Starting the game was Caleb Frare and he had a good day today.  He pitched three innings and only gave up one hit and one walk.  He struck out three batters without giving up any runs unearned or earned.  Frare got one fly out and one ground out.  The best part of his line was the fact that he erased both the hit and walk by picking the guys off first base.  It was a good start for the 2012 draftee. He really needed it as this lowered his ERA to 6.35.

Rony Bautista came in and pitched ok but took the lost.  He went four innings of work and he allowed two earned runs.   Bautista allowed four hits along with a walk to go with his three strikeouts.  What I like about Bautista is he strikes guys out and gets groundball outs like today when he got four groundball outs to two fly outs.

In the first game the offense wasn’t very good as a team they went 6 for 25 with two walks.   Jerison Lopez had the best day today as he went two for two with a walk.  He scored the only run that was scored today.

Nathan Mikolas, Yicok Calderon, David Remedios  and Francisco Rosario all went one for three today.

Game Two:

Starting the game was Jordan Cote who I am very high on.  Cote went four innings  today and he struck out four batters.  He did allow four hits today and one walk.  As was the story today Cote picked a base runner on first base. Now it appeared that Cote didn’t have the ball down today as he only got one groundball to three fly outs.   Cote is on a 5 inning or 75 pitch count before being yanked.   I asked Cote on twitter. (@jordancote603) how he velocity was this year and he said he’s been 88-89 mph.

The hitting wasn’t even as good as the first game as the hitters 3 for 20 with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts.   Jerison Lopez and Miguel Andujar both went one for two today.  Lopez’s hit was a double along with a walk.  Andujar only had a walk but no extra base hit.   Austin Aune went one for three today but did have a strikeout.   Justin James had a no contact day as he didn’t have a hit or at bat but did have two walks and the only run of the day.

Tomorrow the Jays and Yankees will play at noon eastern.
