Pazos, Rumbelow Optioned to Triple A Scranton

The Yankees have just optioned relievers James Pazos and Nick Rumbelow have been optioned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start the 2016 season. This news coming from the Yankees PR department.

The lefty Pazos pitched to a 4.76 ERA in seven appearances this spring. He appeared in 11 games with the Yankees last season giving up no runs over a span of five innings. The 24-year-old is expected to earn callups throughout the season with a chance to earn a bullpen spot later in the season.

The right-handed Rumbelow, who’s also 24, appeared in eight games for the Yankees this spring with a 5.19 ERA. He allowed 15 hits and walked four giving him a 2.19 WHIP. Like Pazos, Rumbelow was also among the carousel of young relievers who pitched short stints in the Bronx in 2015. He had a 4.02 ERA in 17 games and should also have a chance to earn a spot in the Yankee bullpen by the later months of the season.

The two join Ben Gamel, Slade Heathcott and Gary Sanchez among notable prospect names that have been assigned to Triple A and sent to minor league camp this week.

Nine more days remain until the first pitch of the 2016 season in the Bronx.
