It was a flurry of debuts in the Bronx, a flurry of rehabs in the minors, and one sparkling start from a breakout hero on the first Tuesday of August.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (47-27): A home run from rehabbing Luke Voit was not enough as the RailRiders lost the series opener to Worcester 7-2.
- Star of the Game: Rob Brantly – 3-for-4, 1 triple, 1 run scored. Brantly was the only Scranton starter with more than one hit, and the triple was his first since July 27, 2019 when he was with Lehigh Valley
- Luke Voit: 1-for-3, 1 home run (4), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Voit has more home runs this season with Scranton than with the Yankees
- Matt Krook: 2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 1 K, 63 pitches (35 strikes)
- Reggie McClain: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 37 pitches (22 strikes)
- Brian Keller: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 24 pitches (14 strikes)
- Braden Bristo: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 46 pitches (27 strikes)
- Adam Warren: 1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 27 pitches (17 strikes)
- Brandon Wagner: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 9 pitches (7 strikes). With the Scranton staff depleted, the 25-year-old first baseman gave it a go on the mound and threw a scoreless frame


Somerset Patriots (49-29): Luis Severino made his highly anticipated return to the field as Somerset defeated Bowie 8-4 behind a Dermis dinger.
- Star of the Game: Dermis Garcia – 2-for-4, 1 home run (20), 1 triple, 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout. Garcia has hovered below the Mendoza line all season long, but he’s also far out in front of the field in leading the system with 20 home runs. He also added a rare triple, his first since 2018
- Brandon Lockridge: 3-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
- Oswaldo Cabrera: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
- Josh Breaux: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Breaux notched a single in his Double-A debut
- Michael Beltre: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
- Isiah Gilliam: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 2 strikeouts
- Luis Severino: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 43 pitches (28 strikes). Severino gave up a homer to Adley Rutschman, but more importantly, he looked comfortable and healthy
- Wandy Peralta: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 16 pitches (10 strikes). Peralta looks like a sure bet to return to New York soon
- Shawn Semple: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, 91 pitches (54 strikes). Semple picked up the win for his strikeout-laden relief effort
- Jefry Valdez: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 11 pitches (8 strikes). Valdez was assessed the save


Hudson Valley Renegades (51-28): The Randy Vasquez bandwagon is leaving the station, in case anyone wants to jump aboard. Thanks to his efforts and some hitting from new arrivals, the ‘Gades blanked Brooklyn 5-0.
- Star of the Game: Randy Vasquez – 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 K, 82 pitches (55 strikes). An efficient, dominant evening for the young right-hander. He got better as the game went on, striking out the side in his final inning – all swinging
- Anthony Volpe: 0-for-4, 1 walk, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
- Everson Pereira: 1-for-5, 1 double, 2 strikeouts. Pereira doubled into the left-center field gap for his first High-A hit
- Austin Wells: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. A great debut for the 2020 first-rounder, who doubled home his past and present teammate Volpe for the third run
- Anthony Seigler: 2-for-3, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout
- Jake Sanford: 2-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
- Oliver Dunn: 2-for-4, 1 double
- Nelson L. Alvarez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K, 25 pitches (12 strikes)
- Nick Ernst: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 25 pitches (13 strikes)
Tampa Tarpons (54-23): The Tarpons were set to open a series with Jupiter, but the weather had other ideas. This one will be made up on Friday as part of a doubleheader.
FCL Yankees (16-6): The rain in Florida also did away with the Yanks’ scheduled tilt against the Jays. That game will be played on August 14.
DSL Yankees 1 (7-9): The Yanks dropped their contest against Cardinals Blue 7-4.
- Star of the Game: Felix Negueis – 2-for-3, 2 runs scored, 2 walks, 1 stolen base. Negueis, a 20-year-old out of La Romana, hit .143 in six games in the GCL two years ago but is off to a strong start this year
- Hans Montero: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts
- Enger Castellano: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
- Alan Mejia: 1-for-3, 2 RBI, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base
- Jared Serna: 1-for-1, 1 run scored, 3 walks, 1 stolen base
- Yarison Ruiz: 4 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K
- Sebastian Perrone: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 5 K
- Lester Beltran: 2 IP, 1 H, 3 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 2 K
DSL Yankees 2 (9-7): Despite another jack from Joel Mendez, the Yanks lost to Brewers 2, 8-6.
- Star of the Game: Joel Mendez – 1-for-3, 1 home run (5), 1 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 walk. Mendez homered four times in his first six games but hadn’t gone deep since July 19
- Pitching Star of the Game: Jan Pena – 5 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K. The 21-year-old has a 3.00 ERA through four appearances
- Dayro Perez: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout, 2 stolen bases
- Brenny Escanio: 1-for-3, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
- Franklin Corniel: 4 IP, 8 H, 6 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 2 K
