Pinstriped Performances: A Veteran Presence

Derek Dietrich led the Patriots back from the brink of defeat, and Scranton secured a much-needed win behind their pitching.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (12-22): A solid outing from Hayden Wesneski and the bullpen proved enough for Scranton to secure a 4-1 win over Syracuse.

  • Star of the Game: Hayden Wesneski – 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 75 pitches (54 strikes). Wesneski is putting together an excellent audition for a spot-starter role with a sparkling 2.31 ERA
  • Estevan Florial: 2-for-4, 2 double, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base
  • Oswald Peraza: 2-for-3, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Armando Alvarez: 1-for-3, 1 home run (2), 1 RBI, 1 run scored
  • Trevor Lane: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 24 pitches (18 strikes)
  • Jose Mujica: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 5 pitches (3 strikes)
  • Shelby Miller: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 17 pitches (12 strikes). Miller locked down his third save

Somerset Patriots (20-11): The Patriots stormed back from a 6-3 deficit and then held off a late Altoona rally to win their Saturday matchup 8-7.

  • Star of the Game: Derek Dietrich – 3-for-5, 1 home run (7), 1 double, 3 RBI, 1 run scored. Dietrich came a triple shy of the cycle and dragged the Patriots back into the game with a run-scoring single, a home run to pull them within one, and a ninth-inning double to put them ahead
  • Anthony Volpe: 1-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 2 stolen bases
  • Jeisson Rosario: 2-for-5, 1 double
  • Blake Perkins: 2-for-4, 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Rodolfo Durán: 1-for-4, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 1 run scored
  • Max Burt: 1-for-3, 1 home run (2), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base
  • Luis Medina: 3 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 76 pitches (44 strikes). Medina’s ERA sits at an underwhelming 5.00
  • Emmanuel Ramirez: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 2 K, 24 pitches (17 strikes)
  • Josh Maciejewski: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 51 pitches (34 strikes). Maciejewski earned the win for immaculate middle relief work
  • Nick Ernst: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 24 pitches (12 strikes). Despite surrendering a run to draw the game close, Ernst earned his second save

Hudson Valley Renegades (15-16): After tying the score at 2 in the ninth, the Renegades went on to lose in extras to Aberdeen, 7-3.

  • Star of the Game: Tyler Hardman – 1-for-5, 1 home run (3), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Hardman hit the first pitch he saw in the ninth inning over the right-center field wall for a game-tying homer
  • Austin Wells: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • TJ Sikkema: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 37 pitches (20 strikes)
  • Edgar Barclay: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 71 pitches (42 strikes)
  • Carson Coleman: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 32 pitches (25 strikes). Coleman finally allowed an earned run after 19 innings, but did so as part of another spectacular performance
  • Tanner Myatt: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 1 K, 27 pitches (14 strikes)
  • Bryan Blanton: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R (3 ER), 2 BB, 3 K, 47 pitches (27 strikes). Blanton took his first loss

Chandler Champlain (John Brophy/Pinstriped Prospects)

Tampa Tarpons (14-17): The Tarpons managed just two hits in a 1-0 loss to Dunedin, their sixth in seven games.

  • Star of the Game: Chandler Champlain – 5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 81 pitches (56 strikes). Champlain’s 0-2 record betrays a very solid season during which he’s posted a 2.49 ERA
  • Jasson Dominguez: 0-for-4, 4 strikeouts
  • Anthony Seigler: 1-for-3, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Ryan Anderson: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 23 pitches (14 strikes)
  • Danny Watson: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 12 pitches (9 strikes)
