Last week it was first-place Buffalo, this week it’s last-place Rochester – and the caliber of competition has made a world of difference for the resurgent RailRiders.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (62-46): Winners of three in a row since their disastrous losing streak, the RailRiders easily swept the Red Wings in a doubleheader, 5-1 and 11-3.
Game 1
- Star of the Game: Estevan Florial – 2-for-3, 1 home run (9), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored. Florial has had a tough run at Triple-A, with an OPS of just .690 and no home runs since July 20 heading into the night, but on Thursday he had the breakout game he’d been waiting for
- Pitching Star of the Game: JP Sears – 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 84 pitches (57 strikes). Sears has a 3.68 ERA in six starts for Scranton
- Rob Brantly: 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
- Trey Amburgey: 1-for-3, 1 double, 3 RBI, 1 strikeout
- Ron Marinaccio: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 18 pitches (12 strikes)

- Star of the Game: Armando Alvarez – 3-for-3, 2 home runs (10), 4 RBI, 2 runs scored. Alvarez went deep in the first and the third to reach double digits on the season
- Rob Brantly: 2-for-3, 1 home run (8), 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Brantly has a solid .287 average and .862 OPS
- Matt Pita: 1-for-3, 1 home run (7), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk. Pita is slugging .700 in four September games
- Max McDowell: 1-for-1, 2 runs scored, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases
- Brody Koerner: 2.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 3 K, 44 pitches (28 strikes)
- Brian Keller: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 28 pitches (23 strikes)
- Braden Bristo: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 19 pitches (8 strikes)
- Nick Nelson: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 16 pitches (10 strikes)
Somerset Patriots (65-44): Another Somerset “home” game in Hartford was postponed for rain. Somerset will return to TD Ballpark tomorrow for one game, then play a doubleheader in their home ballpark on Saturday.


Hudson Valley Renegades (65-46): Everson Pereira is on fire, but his teammates much less so, as the ‘Gades lost to Brooklyn 6-4.
- Star of the Game: Everson Pereira – 2-for-4, 1 home run (11), 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout. Pereira now has five home runs in his last four games and he is slugging an otherworldly .783 in September

- Jake Sanford: 2-for-4, 1 triple, 2 RBI, 1 strikeout

Tampa Tarpons (71-37): Tampa’s game against Dunedin was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Blue Jays leading 5-0. It will be resumed tomorrow.


FCL Yankees (31-15): A six-run eighth inning lifted the Yanks to a 9-6 win over the Blue Jays.
- Star of the Game: Alex Guerrero – 2-for-5, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Guerrero is putting up huge numbers so far: a .404 batting average and 1.077 OPS
- Alex Vargas: 3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout
- Raimfer Salinas: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts
- Miguel Marte: 2-for-5, 1 run scored, 3 strikeouts

- Starling Perez: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

DSL Yankees 1 (21-20): The Yankees took care of the Nationals 4-3.
- Star of the Game: Enger Castellano – 2-for-3, 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. The 18-year-old had his first multi-hit game since August 5
- Carlos Verdecia: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
- Darwin Castillo: 1-for-3, 1 RBI
- Geralmi Santana: 3.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
- Sebastian Perrone: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. Perrone recorded his first win
DSL Yankees 2 (21-20): After the Mariners tied the game at three, the Yanks rattled off six unanswered runs to take a 9-3 victory.
- Star of the Game: Daury Arias – 1-for-4, 1 double, 4 RBI, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Arias had a bases-loaded walk to drive in the go-ahead run, and then a bases-clearing double in the sixth that gave the Yanks some breathing room
- Joel Mendez: 1-for-3, 2 runs scored, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base
- Nicolas Garcia: 2-for-3, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
- Ronny Rojas: 2-for-4, 1 double, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base
- Osmany Fleitas: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
