The Tarpons’ postseason kicked off with a very frustrating loss, but all is by no means lost.
Tampa Tarpons: They took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth, and the Marauders were down to their last out, but the Tarpons couldn’t close the deal as Bradenton tied the game and then worked a bases-loaded walk to win Game 1 4-3.
- Star of the Game: Antonio Gomez – 2-for-4, 1 home run, 3 RBI, 1 run scored. Gomez drove in all of Tampa’s runs with a solo home run in the sixth and a two-run single in the eighth
- Tyler Hardman: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 strikeout
- Blas Castaño: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 89 pitches (61 strikes)
- Michael Giacone: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 5 pitches (3 strikes)
- Clay Aguilar: 2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 41 pitches (26 strikes)
- Jack Neely: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 27 pitches (13 strikes). Neely surrendered the game-tying base hit, then hit the next batter to load the bases and issued a four-pitch walk to end the game
DSL Yankees 1 (26-25): The Yanks rode a seven-run eighth inning to a 9-4 win over Cardinals Blue.
- Star of the Game: Jesus Rodriguez – 3-for-5, 2 doubles, 4 RBI. Rodriguez’s first double got the Yanks on the board, and his second cleared the bases to give them some breathing room
- Pitching Star of the Game: Allen Facundo – 4.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K. This is the second time this season that Facundo has racked up double-digit Ks while only pitching into the fifth inning
- Fidel Montero: 2-for-4, 1 triple, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
- Carlos Verdecia: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
- Gabriel Bersing: 3-for-4, 2 RBI
- Ruben Castillo: 1.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 1 K
- Sebastian Perrone: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K
DSL Yankees 2 (25-26): The Yanks coasted to a 9-2 win over Brewers 2.
- Star of the Game: Ronny Rojas – 1-for-3, 1 home run (5), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Rojas has posted an .804 OPS on the year
- Daury Arias: 3-for-5, 1 RBI, 1 run scored
