Pinstriped Performances: Best of Five

The Tarpons’ postseason kicked off with a very frustrating loss, but all is by no means lost.

Tampa Tarpons: They took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth, and the Marauders were down to their last out, but the Tarpons couldn’t close the deal as Bradenton tied the game and then worked a bases-loaded walk to win Game 1 4-3.

  • Star of the Game: Antonio Gomez – 2-for-4, 1 home run, 3 RBI, 1 run scored. Gomez drove in all of Tampa’s runs with a solo home run in the sixth and a two-run single in the eighth
  • Tyler Hardman: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 strikeout
  • Blas Castaño: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 89 pitches (61 strikes)

  • Jack Neely: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 27 pitches (13 strikes). Neely surrendered the game-tying base hit, then hit the next batter to load the bases and issued a four-pitch walk to end the game

DSL Yankees 1 (26-25): The Yanks rode a seven-run eighth inning to a 9-4 win over Cardinals Blue.

  • Star of the Game: Jesus Rodriguez – 3-for-5, 2 doubles, 4 RBI. Rodriguez’s first double got the Yanks on the board, and his second cleared the bases to give them some breathing room
