Pinstriped Performances: Bittersweet Goodbyes

As the Yankees organization bid farewell to five prospects in deadline trades, the rookie-level affiliates could not find much success on the field.

FCL Yankees (26-12): The Phillies and Yankees finished up a twice-postponed contest with the Phils winning 2-1, then the two teams played their regularly scheduled game and the Yankees again found themselves defeated 9-2.

Game 1

  • Star of the Game: Brock Selvidge – 4.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 K. Selvidge has a solid 36 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched

Game 2

  • Star of the Game: Agustin Ramirez – 2-for-4, 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Ramirez has cooled off a bit since his white-hot start, but he’s still hitting .320 with a .931 OPS
  • Daury Arias: 2-for-5, 1 run scored
  • Luis Serna: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. The 18-year-old has an elite 41:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio
  • Yorlin Calderon: 1 IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 1 K. Calderon suffered his first loss of the season

DSL Yankees (20-21): The Yanks took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but found themselves on the short end of an 8-7 walk-off loss to Pirates Gold.

  • Star of the Game: Gabriel Bersing – 2-for-4, 1 home run (6), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Bersing looked like he’d provided the winning runs with a two-run bomb in the top of the ninth
  • Keiner Delgado: 2-for-3, 1 double, 3 runs scored, 2 walks, 1 stolen base
  • Manuel Palencia: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, 1 run scored

DSL Bombers (22-20): The Bombers had no better luck than their colleagues with Pittsburgh, losing to Pirates Black 12-4.

  • Star of the Game: Enger Castellano – 1-for-4, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Castellano is still looking to get it going at the plate, hitting just .229
  • Fidel Montero: 2-for-3, 1 double, 2 walks, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Enmanuel Tejeda: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts

  • Keninson Diaz: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
  • Ronald Roman: 1 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
  • Pedro Rodriguez: 1 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
  • Andry Javier: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 2 K
  • Oscar Silverio: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. A rare occurrence of two position players (Javier and Silverio) pitching in the same contest, and neither did all that badly
