Perhaps the Yankees will have a solution to their offensive woes behind the plate soon. That was about the only piece of good news on Saturday, as Scranton was swept in a twin bill, Somerset and Hudson Valley rained out yet again, and the Tarpons’ winning streak snapped.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (10-18): Rochester took the first game of the doubleheader 9-2, then rallied to beat the RailRiders again in extras, 8-7.

Game 1

  • Star of the Game: Oswald Peraza – 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Peraza is hitting .263 in May
  • Estevan Florial: 1-for-2, 1 double, 1 RBI
  • Deivi García: 3.2 IP, 4 H, 6 R (4 ER), 3 BB, 4 K, 82 pitches (55 strikes). García continues to struggle and his ERA has inflated to 9.17
  • Reggie McClain: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 19 pitches (10 strikes)
  • Carlos Espinal: 1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 26 pitches (15 strikes)

Game 2

  • Star of the Game: Phillip Evans – 2-for-4, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored. Evans hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to put the RailRiders up 3-2
  • Rob Brantly: 1-for-5, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
  • Jose Peraza: 2-for-4, 1 RBI
  • Armando Alvarez: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base
  • Clarke Schmidt: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 3 K, 46 pitches (28 strikes). Schmidt has a 3.86 ERA at Triple-A
  • Jose Mujica: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 11 pitches (6 strikes)
  • Manny Bañuelos: 2.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 47 pitchers (30 strikes). Bañuelos was tagged with a blown save for allowing the Red Wings to even the score in the fifth
  • Shelby Miller: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 18 pitches (12 strikes)
  • Michael Gomez: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 2 K, 27 pitches (19 strikes). Gomez surrendered the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and the winning run one inning later

Somerset Patriots (16-8): The Patriots were rained out for the second consecutive day. This matchup with New Hampshire will be made up on June 15.

Hudson Valley Renegades (13-11): The Renegades and BlueClaws were postponed and will play their game on June 8.

Tampa Tarpons (13-12): The Marauders defeated the Tarpons 3-2 for Tampa’s first loss of this series.

  • Star of the Game: Ben Rortvedt – 1-for-2, 1 home run (1), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Rortvedt, making his first appearance of the season, went deep in the sixth inning as he begins his audition for a major-league role
  • Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-5, 1 strikeout
  • Anthony Seigler: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 strikeout
  • Raimfer Salinas: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts
  • Chandler Champlain: 4.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 75 pitches (47 strikes). Champlain has 23 strikeouts against just four walks
  • Harold Cortijo: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 27 pitches (15 strikes)
  • Danny Watson: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 0 K, 37 pitches (22 strikes). Watson took his second loss
