It was a long afternoon and evening of baseball for the Tarpons, and the clock seems to be running out on their season. Hudson Valley also teeters on the edge of contention with just five games to go.
Somerset Patriots (76-48): The Patriots and Yard Goats were rained out and will play two games tomorrow. Their playoff opponents are already settled – it’ll be the Sea Dogs next week.

Hudson Valley Renegades (69-57): The ‘Gades lost to the Blue Rocks 5-3 and now sit 1.5 games behind Brooklyn.
- Star of the Game: TJ Rumfield – 1-for-4, 1 home run (4), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Rumfield is building on a strong August during which he went 25-for-82 with seven doubles and a homer
- Anthony Seigler: 3-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
- Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-3, 1 RBI
- Blas Castano: 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 5 K, 84 pitches (56 strikes). Castano fell to 5-8 and his run of four straight starts allowing three or fewer runs came to an end
- Nelson L. Alvarez: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 31 pitches (20 strikes)
- Welington Diaz: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 14 pitches (9 strikes)


Tampa Tarpons (61-64): In a game resumed from mid-July, the Tarpons fell to the Tortugas 5-0. They then held on to defeat Daytona 7-6 in the second game, but still sit two games back of Dunedin.

- Antonio Gomez: 1-for-3, 1 strikeout
- Osiel Rodriguez: 1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 39 pitches (24 strikes). Rodriguez was the first pitcher to feature today and took the loss
- Alex Bustamante: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 16 pitches (10 strikes)
Game 2
- Star of the Game: Antonio Gomez – 2-for-4, 1 home run (8), 1 double, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout. Gomez has homered three times in six games
- Madison Santos: 1-for-2, 1 double, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout. Santos doubled home two runs in the top of the seventh to open up a lead Tampa wouldn’t relinquish

- Ryan Anderson: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 30 pitches (15 strikes). Anderson suffered a blown save but also picked up the win
